Sculpting from Ashes
I haven't been creating as much as I used to. It's time to get back to the me who used to do that.
It’s time to get back to creative writing. I’ve been going through my journals from many years ago, both when I kept a Livejournal as a diary/creative writing outlet, and my more private writings and journal entries, and though the muse of that output is still present, I’ve struggled to write anything in that mode for… well, for too long. Far too long. I almost feel like that part of my creativity was cremated as I tried to embrace some sort of stoic shield for the emotional part of me that was too easily bruised, and so it burned away into ash.
But let’s find a way to make some sculptures from the ash, shall we?
Just like exercise, though, when you haven’t used some muscles in awhile, you can’t just begin lifting at your max weight again, so let’s go a bit slow… I’m going to publish some old things I’ve written - journal entries, creative pieces, poems - and even maybe a few bits of inspiration from others.
While we revisit the past and scoop up those ashes, we’ll find some sparks and embers that can kindle something new.
Yes, I know that isn’t how ash and fire works, but can have we have some love for poetic license?
